St. Petersburg residents may have been overtaxed due to the city's excessive spending of $49 million in its 2025-2026 General Fund Budget, according to the Florida Chief Financial Officer's Office. Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia, who toured the city in support of a proposed constitutional amendment aimed at limiting local property taxes, made the announcement. The CFO's office cited administrative bloat and wasteful spending as justification for the proposed amendment.
